Chordloops uses an algorithm to randomly arrange chords—incorporating voice leading, rhythm generation, and key and instrument selection. This produces a wide range of musical possibilities, resulting in many great-sounding loops!
Why use Chordloops.net?
It can inspire new songs, compositions, improvisations, and beats. Additionally, it is an effective ear trainer (scroll for lessons), an interactive game that provides endless practice for transcribing chord progressions.

Supported are: Major and minor keys, borrowed chords, secondary dominants, and several possible variations of any chord (extensions, suspensions). Download audio (.wav) and MIDI for loops in Experiment Mode.

When I first launched this site in 2023, the response was far bigger than I expected. Tens of thousands of people have used it over the past few years, and I still often receive messages from musicians who found something they liked in it.
Thank you to everyone who's visited, shared it with someone, or written in. It genuinely kept me working on this.
I've spent the last while rebuilding Chordloops from the ground up, so I'd like to announce that there are some big changes in the works.
1 Music generation is getting a major upgrade.
Chordloops will soon generate full-band, multi-track arrangements. Instead of just generating single-instrument chord progressions, you'll be able to create real musical accompaniment, with keys, guitars, drums, bass, strings, and synths.
This opens up a whole new world of creative inspiration and musical experimentation.
I'm extremely excited to share with you this update. The new loops sound incredible!
2 Save your favorite loops.
Along with the new music generation engine, you'll soon be able to create an account and save loops to your dashboard. Whenever you find something you like, just click "Save" and you'll be able to revisit all of your favorites in one place.
3 The Ear Trainer is getting a huge upgrade.
The Ear Trainer will leverage the new music generation engine, meaning you can train your ears with endless, real music. I've found that the new multi-track music generation makes practice far more engaging, enjoyable, and frankly, addicting.
Stat tracking: Log in to track your progress over time and see where your strengths and weaknesses are.
For instructors: Create Ear Trainer lessons for your students, then view reports and insights for your class and individual students.
4 Mobile app and a New Look
With the upcomming mobile app, you'll be able to generate music and train your ears on the go.
In addition, the site will be getting a fresh, modern look, with significant performance improvements as well.
